Trip B: Spring -24 May-4 June 2020 (Roseto Valfortore)
Time & Location
About the Event
Spring is beautiful in Roseto! We will see the mountain starting to bloom!
This week is the feast of San Filippo --the Patron Saint of Roseto. So you will see a traditional village feast and festivities!!!
We will have 4-5 cooking classes and create our own meal for that day! All traditional foods of the town and region of Puglia!
We will take a trip to visit Giuseppina and Nicola the cheesemakers to see how the local Caciocavallo cheese is made.
We will also spend a day visiting local Roman Ruins and other historical sights in nearby Lucera and on another day take a ride out to see the Cathedral in San Giovanni Rotondo where Saint Pio served and a visit to the Sanctuary to St Michael the Archangel at Monte Sant'Angelo which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Then we will make our way down to the coast to see the beautiful Adriatic and have a wonderful lunch right on the water!
There will also be time to take a walking tour of town, and time to relax!
When you speak to Dorina, she will provide you a contact for a travel agent. If you arrange your own travel, you will want to arrive in Naples on Oct 4th. You will want to make your departure no earlier than 10am on Oct 14th for your included ride to the airport. Other transportation arrangements can be made for additional fees if you do not arrive or depart in the pick-up and drop-off windows.
**To take a Cooking Class in Puglia is like no other. Puglia is still off of the more beaten paths of other tourist areas.
Don't miss it! You will see what it is really like in a Peasant Village in Southern Italy!
