Things to Do in Roseto Valfortore
(From a Local)
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
If you’ve arrived in Roseto Valfortore and you’re wondering what there is to do here, you won’t find a long list of attractions or tourist stops — and that’s exactly the point.
This is a village where life is still lived slowly, around the table, in conversation, and in community. What people come here for isn’t entertainment.
It’s connection.

What to do in Roseto
Eat Like a Local
Food is at the center of life here — home cooking, shared meals, and long tables.
In Roseto, meals aren’t rushed. They’re moments to sit, talk, laugh, and be together. Visitors often say that one shared meal here teaches them more about Italy than any tour ever could. Even in our restaurants, you feel like you are at home!
In the main piazza you will find
-
Bar Del Corso- Owned by Filippo and Rosaria and their daughters Margherita and Antonella! It is a wonderful Pizzeria (Sat and Sun only in the off season and everyday in the summer!). If you want a regular meal, just ask what they have today because when Rosaria or Carmela cook it is what is fresh at the moment! And don't forget to check out the pastries that Antonella makes! Wow! Also in summer, there is outdoor seating right in the main piazza so you can still see what is going on in town while you eat! Here you can also just go in the front of the house where there is the bar where you can get a coffee a drink or a gelato!
-
La Locanda Di Tullio e Amalia or more affectionately referred to as just La Locanda sits behind the mother church that you reach by going through the big archway of the castle in Piazza. Ask for Franco or Leonardo and they will take care of you! There you will find a menu full of lovely meats and an antipasto meal that will fill you til tomorrow! They also serve pizza on the weekends and all summer. Outdoor seating in the warmer weather offers a beautiful view of the mountains and also overlooks our Amphiteather.
-
Terrazza Paduli (which used to be the Chalet) owned by three friends, Vittorio, Domenico and Leonardo is our nod to seafood. Vittorio who's mother is from Roseto grew up in Naples working with his dad in the Fish industry. He knows fish! They bring in fresh seafood made in the Naples tradition. They also serve pizza and other traditional dishes. TP is located at the bottom of town near the soccer field so be ready for an influx of fans grabbing a coffee or a beer at halftime if there is a game! They also have warm weather outdoor seating!
-
Bar Italia- is not a restaurant, but a place you can get a warm greeting and also a coffee, drink or gelato! Pietro is the owner of the location that is the oldest place in town- continuously a bar since the 1950's. This is the "Cheers" of Roseto. You walk in, you greet the room, chat, get a coffee and run off to your next stop OR you pop in and then don't leave for hours! Whether you get a drink and watch a soccer game or sit outside and watch the life of the town ... it is a place that energizes you!
Family Meals- If you would like to share a meal with a family here in town just contact Dorina to set that up. If you are of heritage of the town it could be that we find someone you are related to! Nothing better than having a meal with "family"!

Cook Together
One of the most meaningful things you can do here is cook with locals.
Cooking in Roseto isn’t about recipes. It’s about rhythm, instinct, and generations of knowledge passed down in the kitchen. You’ll cook what’s in season, what’s available, and what families here actually eat.
-
Dorina's Kitchen- Contact Dorina for classes. Sometimes there is already a group you can jump in on or if not a private class can be arranged. This is where you not only cook, but actually create the meal you will eat! The best souvenir you can take home is a recipe... or two! Then invite your family and friends over to taste your souvenir!

Walk the Village
Roseto Valfortore is meant to be walked slowly.
You’ll notice neighbors greeting each other, doors open, conversations happening in the street. There’s beauty here — but it’s quiet, lived-in beauty. The kind you only notice when you slow down.
-
You can walk the town on your own through our quaint alleys or even our paths out in the nature of the mountains. It's ancient. It's beautiful. It's yours.
-
If you would like to know more of the history of the town as you are walking around, just contact Dorina for a guided walk. We speak Italian, English and Spanish.

Experience Daily Life
There may be a festa, a Sunday lunch, or simply a normal afternoon where nothing is scheduled — and that’s often when the most meaningful moments happen.
This is not a place to “do more.”
It’s a place to be present. You can just come here, get a B&B and enjoy the "art of doing nothing". And you will enjoy every minute of it!
Other Experiences
Sometimes people are looking to leave the city or the beaten path and go somewhere to do something different. This is also where you just might find something like this! You can also contact some of our organizers and something can be set up just for you or your group.
